The Second Youth Ice Sculpture Festival has opened in Perm.
The festival is thematic and is dedicated to the 65th anniversary of the Soviet victory in
the World War II.
Ice sculptures and ice carving demonstrations are being held at the Esplanade in the downtown area. For the event the Organizing Committee has provided natural ice blocks allowing sculptors an opportunity to work on a pure and transient medium. It is noteworthy that participants of the festival are only young sculptors - students from Perm State Institute of Fine Arts and Culture, from the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture, from Perm Art College and Kungur Art and Craft College.
The awarding ceremony will take place on Saturday, January 16th. Winners of the festival will be invited to represent the City of Perm at the Ice and Snow Sculpture All-Russian Championship in 2011.
